The simple home trick to restore the white color of household appliances that have turned yellow

Returns plastic that has been damaged by the passage of time to its original appearance

The passage of time or exposure to the sun are plastic’s worst enemies. We often see how our household appliances become more and more yellow in color, giving the rooms in our home a more neglected and dirty appearance.

If you have tried to restore it to its original color but have not succeeded, you should know that it will be essential to carry out a deep clean, at least once every three months. With more frequent cleaning, you will be able to get the plastic to regain that yellowish color that we dislike so much. If it is already too late and your refrigerator or some part of your bathroom already have this appearance, here is a trick to restore the original white tones.

The first thing to do is to clean the surface well with warm water and soap to remove any dirt and grease. Then take a plastic container and mix in it two glasses of hot water, one cup of chlorine or bleach, half a cup of sodium bicarbonate and a quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide. Using a spoon, stir until all the ingredients are well mixed.

Dip a sponge or brush into the mixture and rub it over the yellowed plastic using circular movements. Once the surface is covered, leave it to act for 25 minutes. Then dampen a microfibre cloth and clean it, removing any residue and dirt. Dry with another clean cloth and you’re done.
