Apple TV+’s new science fiction series looks great and is coming in just a few months

It is described as a science fiction comedy/thriller, and stars Alexander Skarsgård (Succession)

If anyone thought that Apple TV+ was going to slow down the release of science fiction this year, they couldn’t have been more wrong. The Cupertino-based streaming service is not slowing down and they already have a very good-looking series scheduled for this spring that you might want to put on your radar. It’s called Murderbot, and a few hours ago they let us see some images.

Based on the literary series of the same name by Martha Wells, published in Spain as Los diarios de Matabot, Munderbot is a comedy and science fiction thriller about a security android who hacks himself and is somewhat horrified by the human emotions he discovers inside himself at the same time as he is attracted to his vulnerable clients. “Played by Alexander Skarsgård (Succession), Munderbot must hide his free will and complete a dangerous mission when all he wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and discover his place in the universe.”

Murderbot’s story is set in a future controlled by large corporations where space travel is the order of the day, provided that their crews are accompanied by androids like the protagonist of this story. The Apple TV+ series will premiere worldwide on May 16, with two episodes, followed by one weekly episode until a total of 10 episodes on July 11.

An expanding science fiction catalogue

The Bots’ Anatomy currently comprises seven books and three short stories, so Apple TV+ has more than enough material to turn this literary saga into another television phenomenon, as long as the audience responds. After hits like Foundation, For All Mankind, Severance and Silo, there is no reason to doubt it. But we won’t have the answer until this coming May 16th.
