On the evening of December 7, commercial airline pilots and air traffic controllers reported strange, colorful light objects moving at tremendous speed in the Oregon sky. These observations have become a major topic of discussion and have aroused great public interest.
Sightings of mysterious objects
A United Airlines pilot flying from Denver to Eugene contacted the air traffic controller at about 8:30 p.m. local time:
“Is there any military activity directly in front of us?”
The inspector replied that he could not see anything, but added that he had received another report from the same region where the lights were visible at altitude. “We are not sure what it is,” – she added.
According to the pilots, three or four objects were seen moving up and down at various altitudes. One pilot noticed that one of the objects was moving in a “spiral pattern,” while another pilot said that the lights were bright red and were moving at incredible speeds. The objects were spotted as high as 50,000 feet.
First-hand stories
The pilots’ conversations with air traffic controllers were recorded and accessed through archives. One of them stated:
“We see three or four targets. They move in all directions – up, down. It’s absolutely crazy.”
Joe Buley, 37, a medic who plays the role of LifeFlight pilot, added: “The biggest thing that stood out was their ability to change direction. Usually, objects do not change direction at this speed.”
What could it have been?
Air traffic controllers allowed the pilots to perform maneuvers to avoid objects: “You are free to maneuver left or right if you want to avoid UFOs.” Nevertheless, all flights were completed without incident.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that at least one report of strange lights had been received, but did not provide any additional details. Scientist Douglas Buettner, who conducted a study on the lights observed in the Pacific region in 2022, said that it could be “Starlink” satellites. However, pilots such as Buley disagree with this theory: “They move too fast and change direction. Satellites don’t do that.”
The phenomenon of mysterious lights
This strange phenomenon is not an isolated occurrence – nearby, New Jersey residents have also reported mysterious drones flying over their homes. There are still no official explanations for these observations.
