The problem of neighbourly relations extends to parking spaces.
Neighbour relations are not always easy. Co-existence problems can be widespread in a community of owners, leading in some cases to rather surprising and sometimes unpleasant situations.
Noise at the wrong time, intrusion into common areas, neighbours’ debts, pets, construction work or, as in this case, parking problems, or more precisely, occupation of parking spaces… Anything can be the cause of a dispute, and in this case, the neighbour’s response went viral on social networks.
Squatting in a car park
Parking spaces are a common cause of conflict between neighbours, and in this case the resident’s response to the vehicle owner went viral. In addition, by leaving the written reply on the mirror in the doorway, it could be seen by all neighbours.
Once in the elevator and with a mobile phone always at hand, it was not long before it reached the internet, and it was on the X account @LiosdeVecinos that the dispute found its echo.
The complaint states that the reason seems to be that the neighbour parked his car in a parking space that does not belong to him. The complaint, which, by the way, is expressed in a fair and polite manner, is as follows:
“Good morning. You are parking your car on private property. Please remove it and do not do so in future.Thank you very much.”
So far, there is nothing to object to, and it would have remained an isolated incident if the person who made the complaint had not replied with a separate note on the same mirror in the doorway.
In this case, the reply falls far short of a polite request from a neighbour (presumably a woman) complaining about the occupation of her parking space . That was her response:
“To the creep who stuck this on my car: stick that note up your arse and never touch my car again. P.S.: I know you”.
In fact, this complaint and response was one of the most prominent on social networks and shows how careful we have to be in neighbourhood relations.
How to deal with such situations
Although the rules are clear and always protect the owner, in such situations and when trying to resolve conflicts related to inappropriate occupation of a parking space, a friendly dialogue should be the first option. In the case of a one-off occupation, it is advisable to speak to the offender or leave a warning note. In the case of persistent cases, the local police can be called in.
If this has no effect and the situation is not resolved, the law provides that the affected owner can file a complaint for trespass or apply to the court for a civil injunction to stop the activity. In addition, it is proposed to install control systems such as security cameras or barriers to prevent future occupation.
