The United States is not messing around and is preparing an army of 100,000 humanoid robots. How does it plan to defeat China?

The CEO of Figure AI revealed that his intention is to develop 100 times more robots than the Asians

The impact of robotics as a result of its relationship with artificial intelligence has meant that more and more companies are interested in this field. One example of this could be OpenAI, as the creators of ChatGPT have posted several job offers seeking to delve deeper into this sector. However, few companies have the reach of Figure AI, an American robotics company that has announced an agreement with the country’s largest companies to produce 100,000 humanoid robots.

As Forbes magazine points out, Brett Adcock (the company’s CEO) intends to use his army of 100,000 robots in two ways: on the one hand, for commercial uses (manufacturing and logistics, for example); and on the other, for domestic uses (moving house, assistance, healthcare and similar). Thus, in direct response to the announcement by Zhiyuan Robotics, a Chinese company that aims to produce 1,000 humanoid robots by the end of the year, the United States intends to manufacture up to 100 times more.

Strategic growth and evolution of its models

To reach these heights, Figure AI has signed agreements with some of the largest companies in the US. Thanks to this, the CEO says they will benefit from aspects such as cost reduction and the intelligent use of AI, as these alliances will allow them to take advantage of market opportunities. For this reason, at least for the time being, the company plans to start with a few clients in the commercial sector in order to expand in a controlled and efficient manner.

So far, Figure has developed three versions of its humanoid robots: Figure 01, Figure 02 and a third model that is still in the testing phase. Currently, its robots can reach 3.68 km/h when moving, an incredible figure if we take into account that they have managed to increase their speed by 700% in the last twelve months. However, for many experts the most relevant aspect is not the evolution of Figure AI’s robots, but how AI plays a fundamental role in the learning and adaptation of robots to different tasks. Therefore, the future will tell if the construction of 100,000 robots marks a before and after in domestic robotics.
