In winter it is difficult to keep your house warm without an efficient heating system. Unfortunately, electricity and fuel prices continue to rise, taking a toll on our wallets. However, there is a solution that can help us save a lot of money.
The rising heating bills and the frequent need to reheat homes force us to get creative. Is there a way to improve thermal comfort in your home without spending a fortune? Of course! A simple trick is to use an emergency blanket, which you can easily buy for a few zlotys at the pharmacy.

A product from the pharmacy helps you to lower your bills
The thermal blanket (also known as NRC foil) is an essential tool in medical rescue operations, where it is used to keep the wounded warm. However, this product can be also useful at home – as an insulating layer.
Cold temperatures outside the window. This is what you need to remember to save on heating
The emergency blanket has two sides – gold and silver. The gold surface absorbs heat, while the silver surface retains the heat. Using NRC foil is an effective way to prevent heat loss and retain heat in the room. How do you do that?
Simply choose the right size of foil (you can cut it with scissors), spray the windowpane with water and stick the thermal blanket on it – with the gold side facing outwards and the silver side facing the room. The foil will keep the heat from the radiator inside, thus reducing energy consumption. Our bills will go down and the temperature will remain at the expected level.
The foil behind the radiator method
Another idea to lower your heating bill is to stick aluminum foil to the wall behind the radiator. This simple solution recovers heat that normally escapes through the walls. Simply wrap the shiny side of the foil around a cardboard box and place it behind the radiator.
The shiny surface of the foil reflects the heat away from the radiator and thus helps to increase the temperature in the room. If you don’t have a cardboard box, you can also stick the foil directly to the back of the radiator with, for example, masking tape.
To maintain the optimal reading on the thermometer, you should not hang wet clothes on the radiator. Always make sure that radiators are uncovered and can do their job unhindered – this is the key to maintaining the right temperature in your home.
