Household chores are essential and, usually, they are simple. Sweeping or mopping, cleaning the bathroom, washing the dishes… we may be better or worse at them, but they are not complicated activities. However, there are also some that we find very tedious, such as cleaning the blinds or ironing clothes. But for the former we have the solution and yes, we are going to give you a trick to make them look like new on the outside too, even if you live in a tenement and without risking your life.
We agree that sometimes there are household chores that we find difficult. Especially the ones that take us the longest or the ones that we don’t really know how to deal with. That’s what happens to us with the blinds when it’s time to clean them on the outside. There are people who don’t know how to face that moment, others who directly take down the blind so they can clean rod by rod, but this is not exactly very comfortable or fast.
We have also seen many people risking their lives to clean the outside of their blinds while sitting on the windowsill. This is madness that we should not under any circumstances commit. And even more so when there is a trick that will make this task much easier. It’s funny that we have never noticed how easy it is to carry out this household chore.
Trick for cleaning blinds
The method is very simple: when the blinds are dirty, it is as easy as opening the blind drawer, the place where the blind is stored once it has been raised and rolled up. This place is hermetically sealed, so if it has not been opened for a long time it will probably not be easy to open, but it can be opened even if you have to use a little force.
Similarly, there are some drawers that are closed with screws or other types of fasteners on the front. So before forcing it open, make sure there are no such fasteners or we could break the plastic and the cleaning will be quite expensive. So it’s best to inspect carefully and thoroughly before starting to apply brute force.
Once we know how to open it and we have opened the hermetic drawer of the blind, we roll it up completely and we will gradually clean the entire blind with water, soap and some disinfectant. As we get clean pieces, we will unroll the blind, which will be left in the air and will be able to dry without us having to do anything.
Be careful, if the blind is very dirty, you can also apply stronger products such as ammonia, bleach or cleaning vinegar, but be sure not to mix these products, as it is dangerous.
Finally, once we have cleaned the whole blind, it will be time to close the box again, but be careful, we must first make sure that the box is also clean, otherwise our work will be undone and the blind will quickly get dirty again.
The last thing we will have to do is to clean the inside of the blind, which is the easiest task. And that’s it, blinds as good as new and it won’t even take ten minutes. So we won’t have to let dirt accumulate on the blinds as a symptom of our laziness.
Now cleaning the blinds won’t be one of those tasks that we find most tedious, because now we have the keys to doing it very easily and without making a great effort. Your blinds will look like new from now on.
